Fortis Donates $500,000 to Elevate Cancer Care, Right Here at Home
On February 14, 2020, Fortis donated $500,000 to be split evenly between the Health Care Foundation and the Dr. H Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation. The Bliss Murphy Centre will use its money towards the construction of a new chemotherapy unit, while The Health Care Foundation will use its $250,000 towards the complete renovation of the cancer care unit at the Health Sciences centre.

St. John’s, NL – The Health Care Foundation awarded today over $62,500 in Comfort in Care™ grant funding to frontline employees at Eastern Health to enhance the comfort, care and well-being of patients, residents, clients and families. Kidney Care Centre Now Open at Mount Pearl Square
St. John’s, NL – Eastern Health advises the public that the new Kidney Care Centre at Mount Pearl Square opened to patients today (June 11, 2018). This new centre replaces outpatient dialysis services which were previously provided at the Waterford Hospital, as well as some outpatient services from other city acute care sites.
New State-of-the-Art MRI Scanner Officially Opens at Health Sciences Centre
Eastern Health and the Health Care Foundation, along with representatives from the Provincial Government, today announced the official unveiling of a 3 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (3 T MRI) scanner at the Health Sciences Centre.
