“The Health Care Foundation’s Comfort in Care™ grant program provides a unique opportunity for frontline health care professionals to identify items that will improve the comfort and well-being of those they so passionately care for every day,” said Jocelyn Perry, Chair, Health Care Foundation’s Board of Directors. “The response to these grants has been overwhelmingly positive, with an increase in both applicants and successful recipients this year. We thank everyone who took the time to apply for their commitment to enhancing health care experiences here at home.”

This year, a total of 63 grants were awarded to health care professionals for the purchase of comfort items. Funding for the 2019 Comfort in Care™ grants is supported by Johnson Insurance, who invest $50,000 into the program annually, as well as the Gary Rowe Memorial Comfort in Care Fund and personal donations.

The Health Care Foundation is committed to raising and stewarding funds for the advancement and enhancement of patient comfort and care, medical equipment, research and education within adult hospitals and facilities serving the St. John’s region. Through its fundraising initiatives, the Health Care Foundation assists Eastern Health in providing health care for the St. John’s region and specialized tertiary health services for the entire province.
