December 12, 2025 – St. John’s, N.L. – The Health Care Foundation today announced the transfer of $3,833,394 to Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services to support priority health-care needs. This is the largest annual transfer in the Foundation’s history and reflects a year defined by strong community philanthropy, meaningful partnership, and shared commitment to strengthening care throughout the region.
The announcement was made during the Foundation’s 2024–25 Annual General Meeting, where leadership highlighted the progress made possible through donor investment and the initiatives advanced in alignment with priorities identified by NL Health Services. This year’s transfer supported surgical innovation, expanded cardiac care capacity, improvements to the patient experience, and programs that reinforce recovery, comfort, and wellness for individuals and families.
“The generosity of our philanthropic community continues to strengthen care in meaningful and lasting ways,” said Paul Snow, President and CEO of the Health Care Foundation. “This record transfer demonstrates what can be achieved when donors, partners, and health-care leaders work with a shared purpose. We are deeply grateful for the support that made these investments possible and for the impact they bring to patients, residents, families, and care teams in Newfoundland and Labrador.”
NL Health Services welcomed the investment, noting its direct benefits to patient care and the importance of continued collaboration.
“NL Health Services works closely with its partners, community groups and organizations to support shared goals that enhance the health and well-being of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador,” said Ron Johnson, vice president of Digital Health, Innovation and Research, Chief Information Officer (A) for NL Health Services. “We are deeply grateful for the generous and continued support of the Health Care Foundation and its donors. Investments like this help us enhance services, introduce new and innovative solutions to care that align with the strategic goals of Health Accord NL, and meet the needs of our communities.”
The Foundation also acknowledged the support of its signature fundraising events and Home Lottery, which contributed significantly to this year’s record transfer. These efforts highlight the value of community engagement and reinforce the important role philanthropy plays in advancing health-care priorities.
The Health Care Foundation remains committed to responsible stewardship and transparent reporting. Every donor contribution is carefully directed to priority needs identified by NL Health Services and to initiatives that elevate care throughout the region.
