Overview: 

The Health Care Foundation is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and creative communications professional to join our remarkable team. As the Director of Communications, you will play a pivotal role in elevating the Foundation’s brand and overseeing our communications strategy and activities. This position is essential in crafting content that supports our communication plans and enhances our brand image. The ideal candidate will have a creative eye for detail and a passion for developing compelling narratives that drive engagement and support our mission to improve healthcare in our community and province.

 

Position Description:

Under the direction of the CEO, you will lead strategic planning, communications, and marketing support for the organization and its various fundraising programs. You will be an integral part of the team, working collaboratively with foundation staff, healthcare professionals, donors, media partners, and others to achieve the overall goal of raising funds to improve healthcare right here at home.

 

Responsibilities:

Communications Provide comprehensive communications support for our various fundraising programs. Develop strategies to effectively communicate the mission and goals of each initiative.

Media Relations: Oversee all media relations activities. This includes writing press releases, public service announcements, and organizing press conferences and media opportunities. Plan and execute funding announcements to ensure maximum media coverage.

Social Media Management: Manage the Foundation’s social media channels, ensuring they are comprehensive and are engaging and reflective of the Foundation’s brand. Develop and implement strategies to maintain meaningful awareness.

Advertising Management: Oversee advertising activities, including the purchase of ads for electronic, print, and social media.

Content Creation: Write compelling content for a variety of communications materials, including direct mail, information packages, and email campaigns. Lead the development and production of the annual report publication.

Marketing Campaigns: Oversee the development and execution of all marketing campaigns and activities.

Video Production: Write content for, plan, and lead the development of video productions for external audiences.

Event Planning: Lead the planning and logistics for the Foundation’s annual general meeting, donor stewardship and other key events.

Speech Preparation: Prepare speaking notes for the President and CEO, Executive Staff, Board members, and other stakeholders as needed.

Website Management: Manage the Foundation’s website, including drafting new web content and performing updates.

Internal Communications: Manage internal electronic media and virtual presence in healthcare, including within our organization and through NL Health Services as related to the Heath Care Foundation.

Representation: Represent and act as the spokesperson for the Health Care Foundation as directed by the CEO.

 

Qualifications:

Experience and Education:

Minimum of 3 years of communications experience in a management position.

Post-secondary education in public relations, communications, or a related field. A combination of experience and education will also be considered.

 

Media and Project Management:

Proven media relations and project management experience.

Strong skills in social and digital media, including content management.

Experience working with website content management systems.

 

Technical Skills:

Graphic Design, with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro) is an asset.

Experience in video production and editing is an asset.

 

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team     environment.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.

 

Organizational Skills:

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Attention to detail and a strong commitment to producing high-quality work.

Experience working with confidential and sensitive information.

Ability to adapt to changing priorities and meet tight deadlines.

 

Additional Skills:

Ability to establish positive and productive working relationships with diverse groups of internal and external stakeholders.

Experience in the healthcare field would be an asset.

Senior Development Officer

Position: Senior Development Officer

Position: Senior Development Officer, Annual Program

Location: St. John’s, NL

Closing Date: August 30, 2024

 

The Position:

The Health Care Foundation is seeking a dynamic fundraising professional to fill a newly created Senior Development Officer role.

If you are a highly organized, creative, donor oriented and imaginative individual with a passion for making a positive impact on the people of NL through healthcare philanthropy, we want you. 

What you will do:

You will be essential in helping us engage donors, crafting and sharing compelling and impactful stories, as well as reimagining our Annual program, while amplifying our Signature Events. 

Not to be limited to, but expanded through your own imagination, working within a team you will:

  • Foster donor relationships.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with multilateral community stakeholders.
  • Promote the mission and mandate of the Health Care Foundation.
  • Imagine, create, develop and execute unique fundraising initiatives within the scope of the Health Care Foundation.
  • Create captivating stories from donors, patients, or NL Health Services staff and employees.  
  • Create new avenues to grow within our fund development program.  
  • Create persuasive written pieces that inspire engagement and support. 
  • Manage assigned Signature Events; including, but not limited to, manage and coordinate planning committees for each event, develop sponsorship proposals and solicit sponsors, and ensure appropriate donor/sponsor stewardship and recognition occurs.
  • Work with the Foundation team and volunteer/donor groups on new fundraising initiatives/events.

What you bring:

  • A super personality.
  • Post-secondary education.
  • Previous experience related to fundraising/philanthropy with specific experience in Annual Giving and events preferred.
  • Strong professional demeanor with an ability to interact appropriately with various stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Multitasking abilities, including meeting deadlines, good time management and strong organizational skills, and the ability to have fun!
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and database systems. Experience with Raiser’s Edge is an asset.
  • Meticulous attention to detail related to donor records, financial transactions, and other sensitive information. Confidentiality and adherence to the donor code of ethics is a must. 
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and collaborative team player.
  • Flexibility with shifting priorities; willingness to assist in various tasks as needed. (You know…those other duties as assigned, the small print)!
