Times are changing, and fundraising organizations like the Health Care Foundation are increasingly essential to our communities. From ensuring food security to advancing medical technology, these groups are working hard to meet society’s evolving needs. This requires significant effort from many people.

Often, we assume “someone else will do that.” While others will handle some tasks, we all have a role to play in finding solutions.

My nursing education and experience in Critical Care and Emergency have made me acutely aware of the needs in our hospitals. As a patient, the healthcare system once saved my life. At some point, we will all need the services of our health system.

One way I can contribute is by considering a gift in my will. Many of us have doubts about leaving a legacy gift. We wonder if our smaller contributions are relevant or worry about needing the money later in life.

A Planned Gift can address these concerns. A gift in a will uses resources left after you no longer need them. Tax advantages can maximize the efficiency of your gift while still leaving a legacy for your family.

I have decided to leave a gift to the Health Care Foundation to give back to those who helped me. The Foundation is guiding me on how to maximize my gift while still leaving a legacy for my family.

My Scottish grandmother used to say, “many a mickle makes a muckle,” meaning that small contributions add up. To reach a goal, the most important step is to start and be part of the solution.

I’ll be a mickle. Will you?
