St. John’s, NL – The Health Care Foundation awarded over $100,000 in Comfort and Care™ grant funding to frontline employees at Eastern Health. Comfort and Care™ grants enhance the comfort, care and well-being of patients, residents, clients and families. The recipients were recognized at a ceremony held at the Health Innovation Acceleration Centre in St. John’s.

“The Health Care Foundation’s Comfort in Care™ grant program lets frontline health care professionals identify items that will improve the comfort and well-being of those they so passionately care for every day,” said Ken Bennett, Chair, Health Care Foundation’s Board of Directors. “Since the program began in 2005, the Health Care Foundation has awarded over $903,500 in Comfort and Care™ grants.”

This year, a total of 82 grants were awarded to health care professionals for the purchase of comfort items. Winners were selected by the Comfort and Care™ Selection Committee. Successful applications included therapeutic recreation tools, Broda chairs, mobility devices, sleeper chairs, blanket warmers and more.

Funding for the 2023 Comfort in Care™ grants is supported by Johnson Insurance, the Gary Rowe Memorial Comfort in Care Fund and personal donations.
