June 25, 2025 – St. John’s, N.L. – Community came together in full force on Thursday, June 19, as the Health Care Foundation hosted its annual Gurney Cup Golf Tournament at The Wilds Resort. The sold-out event brought together more than 140 golfers and raised $113,595 in support of adult health care in Newfoundland and Labrador. This year’s proceeds will support the integration of robotic-assisted surgery in the province, a major advancement that is expected to benefit more than 500 patients in its initial implementation phase.
“The Gurney Cup is more than just a tournament; it’s an opportunity to unite for something larger than ourselves,” said Paul Snow, President and CEO of the Health Care Foundation. “Every participant, sponsor, and volunteer played a role in supporting surgical innovation for patients and families in our province. We are grateful for the generosity that makes progress like this possible.”
The Health Care Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to belairdirect, this year’s Presenting Sponsor, for helping make the 2025 tournament a resounding success.
“belairdirect is honoured to support the Gurney Cup Golf Tournament and the Health Care Foundation’s efforts to strengthen adult health care in Newfoundland and Labrador,” said Max Mercer, Senior Account Manager of Business Development and Affinity at belairdirect. “We believe in the power of community-driven initiatives to make meaningful change, and we’re proud to stand behind this important step forward in expanding access to surgical innovation.”
Additional thanks are extended to all Gurney Cup sponsors, as well as the dedicated event volunteers and committee members whose efforts helped make the 2025 tournament a success.
