Capital Auto Group donated $20,000 towards local cardiac care at the Row 4 Heart event, hosted at Capital Hyundai. Funds raised will strengthen cardiac care for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians by supporting Virtual-First Cardiac Care, which will allow the Heart Team to extend their reach to wherever you are.
“Virtual-First Cardiac Care“ technology will enable remote cardiac consultations, allowing Cardiologists, Cardiac Surgeons and the Heart Team to instantly “see” patients in emergent or critical care settings anywhere in the province, or even at home. This new technology will be used to listen to your heart beating and assess its function remotely, providing rapid access to cardiac care people receive when they are physically at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s. Virtual First-Cardiac Care will help patients get a diagnosis faster and in some cases may remove the unnecessary burden of travel to the city.
Capital Auto Group’s donation will help us put kits of specialized cardiac technology and equipment in seven hospitals across Newfoundland and Labrador. This technology connects to a virtual cardiac centre based in St. John’s where the Heart Team will be available virtually, in real-time. This new equipment can provide crucial information about your heart from a distance to help the Heart Team decide on the next steps.
