Dr. Walter Templeman Health Care Centre

For the people of Bell Island, having access to health care within their own community matters.

The Dr. Walter Templeman Health Care Centre is an important part of life on Bell Island, providing a range of health services to residents at different ages and stages of life.

From primary and emergency care to long-term care, medical imaging, mental health and addictions services, palliative care and other community-based health services, the Centre helps people receive the care they need closer to the people and places they know.

Through the Health Care Foundation, donors can help strengthen that care by supporting equipment, programs, patient and resident comfort, and enhancements to the health care environment.

Health care is deeply connected to community.

For people living on Bell Island, receiving care close to home can mean staying connected to family, friends and familiar surroundings.

It can mean less travel for appointments. Greater peace of mind for families. And for residents receiving long-term care, it can mean continuing to live in the community they have called home for much of their lives.

Donor support helps enhance the care and experiences of patients and residents while strengthening an important community resource.

Whether someone is visiting for an appointment, receiving treatment or making the Centre their home through long-term care, the environment surrounding them can make a meaningful difference.

Comfortable furnishings. Welcoming common areas. Thoughtful patient and resident amenities. Spaces where families can gather and spend time together.

These may seem like simple things, but during illness, recovery or the transition to long-term care, they can provide an important sense of dignity, familiarity and comfort.

Through donor support, we can help create environments that feel less institutional and more like home.

In smaller communities, a health care centre can mean much more than a building.

It is a place people turn to when they are sick. A place where families find support. A home for residents who need long-term care. And an important part of the community it serves.

Through the Health Care Foundation, your generosity can help ensure the Dr. Walter Templeman Health Care Centre continues to provide compassionate, patient- and resident-centred care for the people of Bell Island.
