Great health care depends on nurses having the knowledge, skills and specialized expertise to meet the changing needs of their patients. Through the Canadian Nurses Grants, the Health Care Foundation helps nurses pursue and maintain specialized professional certification, supporting continued learning and bringing advanced knowledge directly to patient care.
Through donor support, the Health Care Foundation helps cover the cost of Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) specialty certification and recertification for eligible nurses. For nurses, certification is an opportunity to advance their knowledge and demonstrate expertise in a specialized area of care. For patients, it means being cared for by highly skilled nurses with specialized knowledge when they need it most. For our health care system, it means strengthening expertise right here at home.

Are you an eligible NL Health Services nurse pursuing or renewing a Canadian Nurses Association specialty certification? The Health Care Foundation provides grants to help offset the cost of CNA certification and recertification.
How to Apply
Eligible nurses are invited to apply during the annual application period. Applicants must complete the Canadian Nurses Grant application and provide all required supporting documentation. The 2026 application deadline was March 13, 2026. Information about the next application period, eligibility requirements and application process will be posted here when available.
