Thanks to a donation of $440,000, Capital Auto Group will help enhance cardiac services through the purchase of two next-generation cardiac ultrasound systems.

“We are so pleased to have Capital Auto Group as a partner that shares our passion for improving cardiac care in the Province,” said Jocelyn Perry, Chair, Health Care Foundation Board of Directors.

“This investment of $440,000 will help ensure our health care professionals have access to the most leading edge equipment to care for the 1 in 3 impacted by cardiac disease in Newfoundland and Labrador. We are very thankful to Capital Auto Group for their donation and the impact it will have on patients and families across our Province.”

A cardiac ultrasound provides detailed images that aid in diagnosis, treatment and follow-up in patients with any suspected or known heart disease. It is one of the most widely used diagnostic tests in cardiology.

“I thank the Health Care Foundation and this donor for such a generous donation that will strengthen cardiac care for our patients and clients,” said David Diamond, President and CEO of Eastern Health. “These two next-generation cardiac ultrasound systems provide a more complete picture of heart function in three dimensions so that our cardiac care program is better equipped to assess and plan the best course of treatment for our patients.”

Capital Auto Group are a long-time supporter of the Health Care Foundation. During the Give from the Heart Capital Campaign, they donated $100,000 to help revitalize two cardiac catheterization laboratories and an electrophysiology suite. This new gift will be their largest to the Foundation to date.

“With over 280 employees and thousands of customers, we are acutely aware of the impact cardiac disease has had and will continue to have in our community,” said Frank Howard, President of Capital Auto Group. “It’s because of this that we started a campaign in 2017, that continues to this day, where we donate $25 for every vehicle sold across Capital Auto Group. This donation wouldn’t be possible without the continued support of our customers and we thank each and every one of them for helping us bring these next-generation cardiac ultrasounds to our province. From our entire team, we are proud to give back again and look forward to continued support in the future.”
